Join native Greenvillian, J. L. Bud Alley, a Furman University alum and author of “The Ghosts of the Green Grass,” for a Museum Coffee Talk on the Vietnam War.
Alley served as Communication Officer for the Second Battalion of the Seventh Cavalry and subsequently completed a one year tour of duty in South Vietnam with them. He was a participant in the bloodiest one day battle of the entire war on 17 November 1965 and again in the 4th worst battle in January of 1966 and the 13th worst in May of 1966. His talk will bring to light the stories behind the faces featured in the current exhibition “Picturing Nam: U.S. Military Photography of the Vietnam War” from the US National Archives.
Books will be available for purchase at the event and signing will take place at the end of the program.
FREE to UHM Members and $2.00 for all other guests. If guests would like to stay and tour the Museum after the program, the $2.00 can be applied to their regular museum admission.
Coffee will be provided.
