Welcome to the Clemson Triathlon!
The Clemson Triathlon moves into its twentieth season and is a great early season tester becoming a favorite among southeastern area triathletes. It is also the very first time the Clemson Triathlon has been held at a new venue. With massive construction on schedule for the original triathlon site, we are VERY excited to move the 20th Annual Clemson Triathlon to the Grill at the Clemson Marina. The Grill will provide the perfect back drop for this iconic event, and will serve up some hot food and cold beverages after the event. Positioned on the bike course, this new venue will enable athletes to race on the same bike course that has treated athletes for 20 years, just with a different start and finish point.
The Swim is a one loop 750 meter course which is always wetsuit legal with water temperatures in the low to mid 70’s. A clockwise triangular shape swim course with start waves of less than 100 athletes per wave. Depending on the wind there can be some chop with little to no current.
The bike is a one loop 11 mile course in quiet rural roads. There is one short but steep grade with the rest of the course being best described as rolling, but on the more hilly side of rolling. Road surfaces are good and traffic is light. Turns are marked with orange pavement arrows and orange directional signs. Police and volunteers will man each intersection.
The run is an out and back two loop 5K course allowing spectators to see athletes mutliple times before they cross the finish line behind The Grill and alongside Lake Hartwell with perfect panoramic views of Death Valley and the Clemson University campus.
